Moving out - research project

Young Adults with Cerebral Palsy’s Stories of Leaving Home

When do they move out and why?

A message from the research team at the University of Sydney Faculty of Health Sciences...

Can you help us with our project?

We are seeking young adults (18 – 30 years old) with cerebral palsy who are thinking about or have recently moved out of their parental home to live in the community.

The aim of the project is to better understand what motivates young people with cerebral palsy to want to move out of home and what moving out is like.

Participation in the project would include a face-to-face interview, lasting from 1-2 hours, in a place that suits you. Interviews would be tape-recorded, with your permission.

During this interview we will ask about what it is like to be thinking about moving out of home. If you have moved we’d like to know about that too. We are particularly interested to know about why you want to move and what support you needed.

This study is being conducted as part of the requirements for the Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) Honours program for Celine Pascual.
